A study on 2-Amino-4-nitrophenol

14/02/2014 10:46

2-Amino-4-nitrophenol which is also known as 4-Nitro-2-Aminophenol and 4-NAP, it is a kind of orange prisms or yellow powders with Molecular Formula:C6H6N2O3 and Molecular Weight: 154.12. It is slightly soluble in water, stable under normal temperatures and pressures. The CAS Registry Number of 2-Amino-4-nitrophenol is 99-57-0 .

2-Amino-4-nitrophenol is produced by the reaction of 2,4-dinitrophenol with sodium sulfide. It was first sythesized by Agfa in 1898. At present, approximately 150 kg of 2-amino-4-nitrophenol are used in hair colouring products in the USA annually, according to industry estimates.

2-Amino-4-nitrophenol(CAS NO:99-57-0) is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of CI MordantBrown 33 and CI Mordant Brown 1, which are used for dyeing leather, nylon, silk, wool andfur. It is also used in some countries as a dye in semi-permanent hair colour products to produce gold-blond shades.

These products are generally shampooed into the hair, lathered and then allowed to remain in contact with the hair and scalp for 30-45 min. For this application, 2-amino-4-nitrophenol is mixed at levels up to 0.5 % with a blend of several other dyes in a shampoo base to produce the final colour or tint. It has also been used in permanent hair colouring products.

4-Amino-2-nitrophenol has been used as an oxidation base in formulations of hair dyes. Technical grade 4-amino-2-nitrophenol induced tumors of the urinary bladder in male rats, and there is some evidence for a similar effect among female rats. Tumors of the urinary bladder are extremely rare among untreated rats.

Preparations of 4- amino-2-nitrophenol have also demonstrated genotoxic potential in a number of short-term tests in bacterial and mammalian cells, in vitro and in vivo. There is some evidence that a purified preparation of 4-amino-2-nitrophenol loses its genotoxic potential, although this has only been investigated in a single study. In support of the concern for the carcinogenicity of 4-amino-2-nitrophenol itself, the purity of the test substance administered in the studies showing the development of bladder tumors was of relatively high purity.

Furthermore, aromatic amines with structural homology to 4-amino-2-nitrophenol have shown evidence of carcinogenicity, some with the urinary bladder as the site of tumor development.

There is evidence for the carcinogenicity of 4-amino-2-nitrophenol, with development of transitional cell carcinomas of the urinary bladder, a rare tumor, observed in male mice. The weight of evidence is supported by observations of a small number of the same rare tumor type in female mice, by mutagenicity in several short-term tests, and by chemical structural analogies with known carcinogens, including several bladder carcinogens.

Guidechem provide the most convenient conditions for the international buyers and let these leads benefit all the business people. If you need 4- amino-2-nitrophenol or any other chemicals you can access to our Guidechem.

What can Florfenicol be used for ?

12/02/2014 13:43

Florfenicol is a kind of white crystalline powders, it has been marketed by Schering-Plough Animal Health under the trade name Nuflor, a fluorinated synthetic analog of thiamphenicol with Molecular Formula:C12H14Cl2FNO4S and Molecular Weight:358.21. Florfenicol is stable at normal temperatures and pressures, insoluble in water.

Since its launch in 1996, Florfenicol(CAS NO:73231-34-2) has gained several additional approvals. It is now prescribed for not only bovine respiratory disease (BRD) but also foot rot. For BRD it can be used as a hospital treatment or for high-risk cattle on arrival at the feedyard. If you'd like to learn more about Florfenicol, we have a full menu of topics for you to choose from.

In the United States, florfenicol is currently indicated for the treatment of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) associated with Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, and Haemophilus somnus, for treatment of bovine interdigital phlegmon (foot rot, acute interdigital necrobacillosis, infectious pododermatitis) associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus.

The use of florfenicol(CAS NO:73231-34-2) in horses, and likely in other equids, typically causes diarrhea. This has been anecdotally reported to progress to lethal cases of acute colitis. Therefore, use of this antimicrobial in the equine patient should be limited to cases in which other, safer, options are not available.

Florfenicol, a veterinary fluorinated analog of thiamphenicol, is approved for treatment of bovine respiratory pathogens in the United States. However, florfenicol resistance has recently emerged among veterinary Escherichia coli isolates incriminated in bovine diarrhea.

Florfenicol is a fluorinated structural analog of thiamphenicol and chloramphenicol approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1996 for treatment of bovine respiratory pathogens such as Pasteurella spp. However, it is not currently approved for treatment of E. coli-related cattle enteric diseases in the United States. Additionally, there are no approved NCCLS breakpoints for E. coli currently available; however, the resistance breakpoint for bovine respiratory pathogens.

Florfenicol is not approved for human use; however, it is related to chloramphenicol and can select for cross-resistance among bacterial pathogens. Florfenicol has been shown to have a spectrum of activity similar to that of chloramphenicol, except that it is active at lower concentrations than chloramphenicol against a variety of clinical bacterial isolates, including chloramphenicol-resistant bacteria. Florfenicol's mechanism of action is directed at disrupting bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome and is generally considered to be bacteriostatic.

Biosynthesis and Metabolism of Ethylene

11/02/2014 13:08

Ethylene is a colorless flammable gas with a faint "sweet and musky" odor when pure. It is the simplest alkene , and the simplest unsaturated hydrocarbon after acetylene. It is stable. Highly flammable - note wide explosion limits. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. Readily forms explosive mixtures with air. It has the Molecular Formula: C2H4 and Molecular Weight: 28.05, the CAS Registry Number is 74-85-1.

Ethylene, unlike the rest of the plant hormone compounds is a gaseous hormone. Like abscisic acid, it is the only member of its class. Of all the known plant growth substance, ethylene has the simplest structure. It is produced in all higher plants and is usually associated with fruit ripening and the tripple response.

Ethylene is widely used in chemical industry, and its worldwide production (over 109 million tonnes in 2006) exceeds that of any other organic compound. Ethylene is also an important natural plant hormone, used in agriculture to force the ripening of fruits.

Ethylene oxide is used mainly as a chemical intermediate in the manufacture of textiles, detergents, polyurethane foam, antifreeze, solvents, medicinals, adhesives, and other products. Relatively small amounts of ethylene oxide are used as a fumigant, a sterilant for food (spices) and cosmetics, and in hospital sterilization of surgical equipment and plastic devices that cannot be sterilized by steam.

Ethylene is produced in all higher plants and is produced from methionine in essentially all tissues. Production of ethylene varies with the type of tissue, the plant species, and also the stage of development. The mechanism by which ethylene is produced from methionine is a 3 step process .

ATP is an essential component in the synthesis of ethylene from methionine. ATP and water are added to methionine resulting in loss of the three phosphates and S-adenosyl methionine. 1-amino-cyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid synthase (ACC-synthase) facilitates the production of ACC from SAM.

Oxygen is then needed in order ro oxidize ACC and produce ethylene. This reaction is catalyzed by an oxidative enzyme called ethylene forming enzyme.

The control of Ethylene production has received considerable study. Study of Ethylene has focused around the synthesis promoting effects of auxin, wounding, and drought as well as aspects of fruit-ripening. ACC synthase is the rate limiting step for ethylene production and it is this enzyme that is manipulated in biotechnology to delay fruit ripening in the "flavor saver" tomatoes .

What can we benefit from Vitamin E

10/02/2014 11:58

Vitamin E refers to a group of eight fat-soluble compounds that include both tocopherols and tocotrienols. It is a kind of Clear yellow oil with Molecular Formula:C29H50O2 and Molecular Weight: 430.7061. It is stable, combustible, incompatible with strong oxidizing agents and it may be sensitive to light and air. The CAS Registry Number is 59-02-9.

Vitamin E is found naturally in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. “Vitamin E” is the collective name for a group of fat-soluble compounds with distinctive antioxidant activities. Of the many different forms of vitamin E(CAS NO: 59-02-9), γ-tocopherol is the most common in the North American diet.γ-Tocopherol can be found in corn oil, soybean oil, margarine, and dressings.α-tocopherol, the most biologically active form of vitamin E, is the second-most common form of vitamin E in the diet.

Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant. Because it is fat soluble, we see it offer protection against damage to the fats that line the outside of every cell of our body. When the fats in our membranes become damaged, important cell functions become compromised. Based on this important mechanism, researchers have studied whether diets low in vitamin E are associated with many diseases associated with aging.

We also see vitamin E protect fats from free radical damage before we eat them. We'll talk about the role of vitamin E in protecting foods during storage below in the Impact of Cooking, Storage, and Processing section.

Vitamin E helps protect LDL cholesterol (sometimes referred to as "bad" cholesterol) from free radical damage. This damaged cholesterol, often referred to as oxidized LDL, tends to accumulate in blood vessel walls in the early stages of hardening of the arteries.

Diets rich in vitamin E from vegetables, fish, and plant oils—like the Mediterranean diet for example—have been linked to cardiovascular prevention in large health surveys Understand, though, that the potential benefits of this diet are not limited to or fully explained by vitamin E, and that supplements of vitamin E have not demonstrated the same sort of preventive benefit that researchers hoped to see.

Sometimes vitamin E is used to lessen the harmful effects of medical treatments such as dialysis and radiation. It is also used to reduce unwanted side effects of drugs such as hair loss in people taking doxorubicin and lung damage in people taking amiodarone.

If you need take Vitamin E, you should pay more attention to it. Learning more health information, properties or suppliers about Vitamin E, you can access Guidechem. Guidechem chemical B2B network provides information on china and global chemical market quotation and relative chemical Information.

What Acetaldehyde can be used for ?

07/02/2014 15:21

Acetaldehyde is a colorless volatile water-soluble liquid aldehyde C2H4O used chiefly in organic synthesis. The Molecular Weight is 44.05, it is stable, but air sensitive. Substances to be avoided include strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, reducing agents, alkalies, halogens, halogen oxides. Highly flammable. Vapour/air mixtures explosive over a very wide concentration range. May form peroxides in storage. The CAS Registry Number of Acetaldehyde is 75-07-0.

It was first observed by the Swedish pharmacist/chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele; it was then investigated by the French chemists Antoine François, comte de Fourcroy and Louis Nicolas Vauquelin , and the German chemists Johann Wolfgang Döbereiner and Justus von Liebig. In 1835, Liebig named it "aldehyde"; the name was later altered to "acetaldehyde".

Acetaldehyde(CAS NO:75-07-0) is used as intermediate for syntheses of bulk chemicals, e.g. ethyl acetate, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, isooctylalcohol, pentaerythrite, pyridines, etc.

Acetaldehyde is mainly used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals. It is ubiquitous in the environment and may be formed in the body from the breakdown of ethanol. Acute (short-term) exposure to acetaldehyde results in effects including irritation of the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract.

Symptoms of chronic (long-term) intoxication of acetaldehyde resemble those of alcoholism. Acetaldehyde is considered a probable human carcinogen based on inadequate human cancer studies and animal studies that have shown nasal tumors in rats and laryngeal tumors in hamsters.

The predominant use of acetaldehyde is as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals. Acetaldehyde is used in the production of perfumes, polyester resins, and basic dyes. It is also used as a fruit and fish preservative, as a flavoring agent, and as a denaturant for alcohol, in fuel compositions, for hardening gelatin, and as a solvent in the rubber, tanning, and paper industries.

Acetaldehyde is one of the most important aldehydes, occurring widely in nature and being produced on a large scale in industry. Acetaldehyde occurs naturally in coffee, bread, and ripe fruit, and is produced by plants.

Acetaldehyde is also produced by the partial oxidation of ethanol and may be a contributing factor to hangovers from alcohol consumption, produced in the liver by the enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase. Pathways of exposure include air, water, land, or groundwater, as well as drink and smoke.Consumption of disulfiram inhibits Acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, the enzyme responsible for the metabolism of Acetaldehyde, thereby causing it to build up in the body.

1,4-Dioxane is a kind of Colorless clear liquids, it is also called 1,4-diethyleneoxide. The vapor pressure for 1,4-dioxane is 30 mm Hg at 20 C, the chemical formula of 1,4-dioxane is C4H8O2, and its molecular weight is 88.10 g/mol. It is stable, incompatible with oxidizing agents, oxygen, halogens, reducing agents, moisture. Highly flammable - note wide explosive range. May form explosive peroxides in storage. The CAS Registry Number is 123-91-1.

1,4-Dioxane is used mainly as a stabilizer for the solvent trichloroethane. It is an occasionally used solvent for a variety of practical applications as well as in the laboratory. It is used as a solvent for cellulose acetate, ethyl cellulose, benzyl cellulose, resins, oils, waxes, some dyes, and other organic and inorganic compounds.

1,4-Dioxane(CAS NO:123-91-1) ether is rather insoluble in water, whereas dioxane is miscible and in fact is hygroscopic. At standard pressure, the mixture of water and dioxane in the ratio 17.9:82.1 by mass is a positive azeotrope that boils at 87.6 C. 1,4-Dioxane is a versatile aprotic solvent. The oxygen atom is Lewis basic, so it is able to solvate many inorganic compounds. Because of its lower toxicity, it is substituted for tetrahydrofuran (THF) in some processes.

However, it has a higher boiling point (101 C versus 66 C for THF), which is important when reactions are to be conducted at a higher temperature. The oxygen centres are Lewis basic and so dioxane serves as a chelating diether ligand. It reacts with Grignard reagents to precipitate the magnesium dihalide.

1,4-dioxane is generated through a process called ethoxylation, in which ethylene oxide, a known breast carcinogen, is added to other chemicals to make them less harsh. This process creates 1,4-dioxane. For example, sodium laurel sulfate, a chemical that is harsh on the skin, is often converted to the less-harsh chemical sodium laureth sulfate.

The conversion process can lead to contamination of this ingredient with 1,4-Dioxane. Other common ingredients that may be contaminated by 1,4-Dioxane include PEG compounds and chemicals that include the clauses "xynol," "ceteareth" and "oleth". Most commonly, 1,4-Dioxane is found in products that create suds, like shampoo, liquid soap and bubble bath.

Environmental Working Group’s analysis suggests that 97 percent of hair relaxers, 57 percent of baby soaps and 22 percent of all products in Skin Deep may be contaminated with 1,4-Dioxane. Independent lab tests co-released by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics in 2007 showed that popular brands of children’s bubble bath and body wash contained 1,4-Dioxane.
